Embedded Piezo-Sensor-Based Automatic Performance Monitoring of Chloride-Induced Corrosion in Alkali-Activated Concrete

The primary goal of the construction industries worldwide is to improve material durability and achieve sustainability. In recent years sustainable cement industry innovation, alkali-activated has emerged as one most promising alternatives ordinary Portland (OPC). terms durability, corrosion steel a significant problem become major cause deterioration reinforced concrete structures worldwide. Thus, structural health monitoring techniques are essential monitor in real-time avoid unexpected failure since civil engineering serve crucial pillar economy. This paper presents through an experimental campaign novel method automatically performance (AAC) (OPCC) under chloride-induced conditions using embedded piezo sensor (EPS) based on electro-mechanical impedance (EMI) technique. AAC was produced alkali silicate-activated fly ash ground granulated blast furnace slag. accelerated tests were conducted OPCC specimens which EPS attached reinforcing bars inside changes EMI signature during progression. To quantify damage due corrosion, statistical indices such root mean square deviation calculated. Further, parameters identified by extracting equivalent (ESPs) stiffness, mass damping from raw signatures. Based qualitative quantitative results, it can be seen that lower than OPCC. term stiffness loss found 39.35% 12.73% AAC. Hence, demonstrated exhibits superior resistance
